What are we going to do for Molly's birthday?

Molly turned 8 yesterday.  As always, we went to Burgerville to celebrate with the extended family.  Afterward, we went to my kind in-laws to open presents and have cupcakes.  (Which were store bought, at her request.  I will never understand children.  I am so good at cake.  However, I came down with bronchitis this week, so didn't mind sitting it out too much.)

How many weeks?

So I disappeared a little, because I couldn't handle Christmas prep (and I set REALLY ambitious goals for handmade presents this year), and my new pregnancy.  After toughing out Christmas, I just got sicker every day, and set standards lower and lower.

I also didn't want to shout about the new baby too much  because I haven't always made it to the end of the first trimester still expecting a baby.

However, I saw the DR this week for my 12 week appointment, and he found that heartbeat right away.  Even though I felt so pregnant, I was so relieved to truly have that confirmation that this baby is coming.

Expected:  August 7th, 2012.

How did the baby quilt turn out?

I'm so lucky to have a lifelong friend in Crystal.  Her baby is so sweet!

It was so fun to make this quilt for such a great friend and her precious daughter!

I just wish I had a picture of the new mama!

Saturday Market, where have you gone?

I miss the market, it ended the last Saturday of October.

Lillian didn't win the costume contest, which I kind of couldn't believe.  That cow costume is one of the cutest I've made (I made it for Roland).

Jack was supposed to be a duck, but wouldn't wear the hat.

Molly loves her drama club and the great directors.  I'm so glad that she shares this enthusiasm with me.  I had a dream about being in high school this week, it wasn't fun.  In it I was worrying what people thought of me.  When I awoke, I thought, if I have to relive some part of high school, why not something fun like being in The Music Man? 

Do you want to go to jail?

I am now an assistant bear den leader.  Fun times.  In conjunction with this role, I scheduled a field trip to the Marion County Sheriff's office.

If you look, Roland is in the back of the cub van (or my co-leader's vehicle).

Our guide was so great, and so generous with his time.  It was truly great to see the boys listen and absorb the great information he offered.  (And to see all the kids get into the SWAT van).

Where are the ducks?

My sweet sister was house sitting for some people with a pond.  So naturally she invited us to come see the ducks that live there.

Roland (as with all rural properties) was impressed and excited.

Jack was cute (with shoes that won't stay on his feet.)

Sadly, these are wild ducks, and they all flew away as we approached.

So Lindsay took the kids to frozen yogurt instead.  She is moving to go back to college, and we will miss her so much!
